Two tiny women share a house carved out of a tree. Hakumei, a carpenter with sawdust in her hair and no patience for sitting still. Mikochi, a tailor who likes quiet mornings and a needle in her hand. They are nine centimeters tall, and the whole forest is built to their scale: insects haul their cargo, birds give them rides, and a market by the ocean sells them everything a person could want. Then the day takes a turn. What starts as an errand or a short trip turns into something stranger, and the two of them have to figure it out together, one practical and one careful, bickering the way old friends do. They cross paths with a weasel named Iwashi, a singer named Konju, an inventor named Sen, and a town full of people exactly their size. Days pass slowly here: work, shopping, wandering, a hot meal at the end. So what exactly is waiting for them past the next bend in the path?
