There is a cafe near the zoo where a polar bear pours the coffee. Shirokuma runs the place himself. He is polite, he is calm, and he will not let a good pun go to waste, even when nobody at the table laughs. Animals and humans fill the seats every day, drawn in by something hard to name. Maybe it is the drinks. Maybe it is the bear. Then a panda shuffles in looking for a job. His one condition: no more than two work days a week. Shirokuma turns him down flat, and somehow that rejection turns the panda into a regular anyway, parked at a table with a sarcastic penguin who never stops complaining. The three of them drift into everything: camping trips, karaoke nights, clumsy attempts at love. Grizzly tends his own bar down the street. Sasako, the only human on staff, keeps the cafe running while the bear experiments with new menu items and the penguin nurses his wounded pride. Nobody here is in a hurry. So what exactly is the secret to that coffee, and why does everyone keep coming back for more?
