Demons and goblins run everything. Humans lost that privilege the moment they picked a fight with every other species at once, and the survivors now hide like vermin, because to a hungry monster a human child is just dinner. So when a golem, a silent guardian of the forest, finds a tiny girl wandering his woods, the smart move is to walk away. He doesn't. She laughs at everything. She grabs his stone hand without flinching. Something in the old caretaker cracks, and just like that a creature made of rock and moss has a daughter, and she has a parent who isn't even the same species. Now they travel together, hunting rumors about where her real family might be, through towns where one wrong glance could get her eaten. He can protect her from claws. He can't protect her from the one truth he's keeping to himself. What happens when Somali finally learns what her father really is?
