Snowfield, Nevada. A quiet town north of Las Vegas, hemmed in by pine forests and desert canyons, the kind of place tourists drive past without slowing down. Somewhere in this backwater, the American Mage Association has spent seventy years quietly studying how to summon the Holy Grail. Then they stop studying and start summoning. The ritual is a copy, and a sloppy one. They lifted it from the Third Fuyuki Grail War and got it wrong: no Saber slot, and Servants who are not heroes at all, just hybrids stitched together from whatever fit. What nobody tells the mages gathered from around the world is that their war is the fake. Seven other Servants have already been called for the real one, and one of them, a Saber, pulls Ayaka Sajou out of danger right after arriving, as if she were his master all along. Which war is actually happening, and who is fighting in the one that is not?
