A doctor named Daisuke Ido digs through mountains of scrap in a ruined city and pulls out a girl. She is not a corpse, not exactly. Her body is machine, her brain is intact, and he rebuilds her piece by piece until she opens her eyes. She remembers nothing. Not her name, not where she came from. He calls her Gally. She seems like a quiet thing at first, until she moves. Then it becomes clear: she can tear through metal with her bare hands, and something in her body knows how to fight even if her mind doesn't. The city around them is a hard place, scrapped together from junk, where people sell their own parts to eat and bounty hunters work the streets at night. Ido wants to keep her safe. She keeps walking straight toward danger anyway. What is she really, this girl he found in the trash? And what happens when she finally starts to remember?
