Earth is gone. What's left belongs to the aliens and their mechanical spawn, a grinding army that pushed the last humans onto the Moon. From up there, what remains of mankind sends down its answer: YoRHa, a squad of combat androids built to take the planet back. Among them is 2B, a soldier with a sword and a job to do, paired with 9S, a scout whose curiosity keeps getting him into places he shouldn't be. Then the machines start acting wrong. Not broken. Strange. Something almost like grief, almost like prayer, coming from things that are supposed to have no feelings at all. Every battle chips away at what 2B believes about the enemy, about the orders she follows, and about herself. She was made to fight. Nobody told her what to do when fighting stops making sense. The war drags on, the answers get worse, and 2B has to decide how much of herself she can spend on a cause she no longer understands. If the thing you were built for turns out to be a lie, what are you supposed to become?
