Mardock Scramble: The First Compression

ActionSci-FiSuspense2010GoHandsRating 7,418+HD

Rune Balot is a teenage prostitute with nothing to her name on the dirty streets of Mardock City. Then a casino manager named Shell picks her up and hands her a whole new life: a clean past, a soft bed, everything she never had. She is grateful. She is also suspicious. Why would a stranger do all this for her? So she digs through his computer, looking for answers about the man who saved her. Big mistake. Shell finds out, plants a bomb in her car, and leaves her to burn. She should be dead. Instead, a new law called Scramble 09 lets the police bend every rule to keep witnesses alive, so a professor rebuilds her body from scratch with reinforced synthetic fiber. When she opens her eyes, the confusion fades and something colder takes its place. Shell is her killer, and she knows exactly where to find him. But a body stitched together in a lab comes with strings attached, and the people who brought her back want something in return. Can she settle the score before they decide she was a bad investment?
