Six short films, six different crews. One studio draws Bruce Wayne in clean, sharp lines; another turns a rooftop chase into something closer to a nightmare. Four animation houses and five directors each got their hands on Gotham, and none of them agreed on what it should look like. A mugger tells a story about the bat to a bunch of kids on a corner. A detective named Ramirez watches a cop and a mob enforcer trade shots in the crossfire. Bruce Wayne tests a piece of tech that turns his own body against him, and somewhere below the streets, Killer Croc is waiting with something worse than teeth. Here is the turn. None of these stories are really about the villains. They are about a man who cannot stop, and the people who keep getting caught in the space between him and whatever he is hunting. One chapter follows Batman through a wound that will not close. Another hands a rifle to the world's deadliest shot and lets him pick a target. The whole thing fits between the night Bruce Wayne first put on the cowl and the night he came back to Gotham to stay. So which version of the bat do you trust: the one the kids swear they saw, or the one still bleeding in an alley?
