Ryouta Sakamoto is Japan's best Btooom! player. He's also jobless, friendless, and living off his mom while he chases that top rank. One night he wishes he could just disappear into the game. He wakes up on a tropical island with a green crystal in his left hand and no idea how he got there. Dreams really do come true, and the joke is on him. The first stranger he meets tries to kill him. Turns out the game is real now. Everyone on this island carries a bag of bombs called BIMs, and the only way off is to kill seven other players and collect their crystals. Ryouta wants no part of the violence. Then he learns the hard way that most people here aren't looking to make friends. He teams up with Himiko, another Btooom! player, and together they start hunting for a way out that doesn't end with a body count. What's waiting for them if they actually make it off the island, and who decided Ryouta deserved a front row seat?
