Episode 9 · Ayakashi

Ayakashi

As a kid, Yuu Kusaka looked up at a shooting star and swore he would fight for justice. Then a friend died, and that promise went quiet. Now he drifts through school with a power he does not fully understand, using it for cash instead of saving anyone. He looks away when people suffer. It is easier that way. Then a classmate with the same kind of power tries to kill him. A girl named Eimu Yoake steps in and pulls him out of it. She tells him what lives inside him: an ayakashi, a parasite that hands out abilities and quietly eats away at the host's life in return. Eimu wakes his power all the way up, and just like that, the quiet days are over. Others carry ayakashi too, and not all of them want to help anybody. So Yuu has to pick the vow back up, whether he believes in it or not, and go after the people misusing their own monsters. Somewhere in all of it is the truth about how his friend really died. Can he carry a power that is killing him long enough to find out?
