Ren Fujii is stuck in a hospital bed in Suwahara, two months after a fistfight with his old friend Shiro Yusa nearly killed them both. Kasumi Ayase and Rea Himuro keep him steady. Bit by bit, life goes back to normal. Then the murders start. Bodies with no heads show up around the city, and on the same nights Ren dreams of a guillotine blade coming down on his own neck. Black clad knights stalk the killers through the streets. A Nazi ritual in the burning Berlin of 1945 was supposed to summon something terrible back into the world, and nobody ever learned if it worked. Two months. That is all the quiet Ren gets before the nightmare leaks into his days. The one thing he cannot shake is Shiro's parting shot: anyone who stays in this city will lose their mind in the end. Why would his best friend, of all people, know that?
