Between the Uoodo arc and the fighting in Kummen, there is a hole in Chirico's story. The TV series skipped most of his time with the Red Shoulders. This 1985 OVA, The Last Red Shoulder, goes back to fill it in. Then the mission turns. The unit he signed on with, the men who wear that red on their shoulders, are not what they seemed from the outside. Chirico has to decide who he can stand beside and who he is being used by, and the answer costs him. Friendships form fast in a squad like that. So do betrayals. What really happened to the Red Shoulders, and why does Chirico never speak of them again?
