Yuuji Kaidou gets the worst kind of news: an illness with no cure. So he goes under, frozen, waiting for medicine to catch up. When he opens his eyes, twenty two years have passed. The world he remembered is gone. Instead there are bugs. Big ones, with blue shells, and they eat people. Soldiers pull him out of the wreckage, cutting down the creatures with giant combat machines. Their leader, Marlene, tells him what happened: the Blue took the planet decades ago, and what is left of humanity is barely holding on. The lucky few live on a space station called Second Earth. Everyone else fights for scraps down below. Yuuji joins the resistance, though at first he can barely stand. Marlene's squad has one more job: escort him and other sleepers back to the station, straight through swarms of Blue that never stop coming. He wants to matter in this fight. But what can one guy from the past really do against an enemy that already won?
