Juna Ariyoshi likes bugs and plants more than people, which is why the motorcycle ride with her boyfriend Tokio should have been just another afternoon. Instead she dies on the road. Then a man named Chris Hawken pulls her back, and the deal he offers is simple enough: become the avatar of time, and fight the raaja, monsters that grow out of the pollution humans pump into the air and water. The catch is that every raaja is born from something people did. A city, a factory, a convenience store run. Mastering her new powers means looking at the world she grew up in and admitting she is part of the problem. Chris and his assistant Cindy bring her into SEED, an international group with its own plans, and the fights get harder the more she understands what she is actually fighting. Juna has to learn to drop her destructive side and face her fate as the one creature who can decide the planet's future. But if the enemy is us, what does winning even look like?
