Episode 1 · Zipang

Zipang

The Mirai is Japan's newest battlecruiser, packed with the latest Aegis combat system, and Commander Kadomatsu and his crew are just out for routine drills. Then the sea changes. It is June 4, 1942, the day of Midway, and the Japanese fleet is about to take a beating that will shape the rest of the war. Kadomatsu spots a Zero going down and pulls its pilot, Kusaka, out of the water. One rescue. That is all it takes. The crew swears they will not touch anything else, no more nudging the past, but a US submarine is already hunting them and this fight was never supposed to happen at all. Every move they make now ripples forward through decades they were born into, and nobody on board agrees on how much they are allowed to change. Can they even get home without rewriting everything they know?
