Taiju has spent five years working up the nerve to tell Yuzuriha how he feels. He finally opens his mouth to confess. That is when a green light swallows the sky and every human on Earth turns to stone. Thousands of years pass. Taiju wakes up naked in a forest, surrounded by statues that used to be people. He is not alone. His friend Senku has been awake for months, living off the land, and he has a plan: rebuild civilization from zero using science. Taiju's muscles and Senku's brain make a solid team, and they even figure out how to bring the petrified back to life. Then the revived start arguing about how this new world should work, and Senku's ideas get tested hard. Nobody still knows what caused the flash in the first place. So who turned humanity to stone, and why?
