Haruto Tokishima is just a normal seventeen year old stuck in class on a space colony, and his biggest problem is probably homework. Then Dorssian warships drop out of nowhere and start shooting up the neutral JIOR settlement he calls home. They did not come for the students. They came for the Valvraves, the giant machines buried under Sakimori Academy, and they are ready to tear the whole school apart to get them. Haruto finds one first. To save his friends he climbs into the cockpit and signs a contract that hands him incredible power and takes his humanity as payment. It is not a fair trade, and he knows it. Then there is L-elf, a Dorssian agent with a mind like a chess engine, who somehow ends up on the other side of this fight. Two people who should be enemies, one weapon nobody fully understands, and the two superpowers of Earth and space now have a very good reason to wipe Haruto's home off the map. So a boy who gave up being human to protect his friends is now the spark of a full blown revolution. How much of himself is left to save?
