Patty Lowell is the last of a rich family, and she's been sitting in an orphanage nobody came for. Then Morrison shows up, pulls her out, and drops her with Dante, who runs a shop called Devil May Cry and takes whatever work pays. Bodyguard duty, he figures. Babysitting, basically. He grumbles the whole way, dragging his feet through a job that feels beneath him. Except the demons come for her. Not one, not a couple. They keep coming, and suddenly the lazy guy in the red coat is very much awake: a sword on his back, two pistols in his hands, half demon and half human, at home in neither world. He cuts them down without breaking a sweat, and the delivery turns into something else entirely. This isn't just some lost girl with a last name. Why does hell want Patty Lowell so badly, and what exactly is Dante protecting her from?
