Thirty thousand Japanese players blink and wake up inside Elder Tale. The swords and spells are real now. So is the hunger, the fear, and the fact that nobody can log out. While most people are still screaming at their menus, one socially awkward college student named Shiroe just shrugs and starts poking at the edges of this new world. He has been here before, in a sense. Years of raids taught him how the game thinks. Then a tiny assassin named Akatsuki swears herself to him as her master, and his old buddy Naotsugu shows up after logging in for the first time in ages, which has to be the worst timing in history. The three of them land in Akihabara, a city of players with no rules and no plan. Shiroe is not the strongest guy in the room, not even close. He is the one who reads the room. Guilds start carving up the streets. Some want order. Some want a throne. And the NPCs walking around like nothing is wrong might be the strangest part of all. Shiroe has to talk, scheme, and hold a city together with nothing but wit and a few loyal friends. Can a quiet strategist really outplay an entire world that refuses to explain itself?
