The truce is barely holding when the Earth Alliance and PLANT go back to open war. Sven Cal Bayan flies for Phantom Pain, the Alliance's elite unit, and he doesn't question orders: hunt Coordinators, hit their bases, move on. Somewhere far from the front lines, Selene McGriff works on a different machine entirely. She's a Coordinator at the DSSD, a neutral research outfit, and the Stargazer she's building is meant for exploring deep space, not combat. Then their two worlds slam together. Sven and Selene come from opposite sides of a fight that has been going on their whole lives. What starts as a mission puts them on a collision course, and the war that keeps growing around them won't let either one just walk away. When the shooting stops, which of them will still be standing?
