A future Tokyo still pitted with the scars of war. A young detective named Shinjuurou Yuuki works the hard cases, mostly murders, and he is good at it. The public calls him the Defeated Detective, because he keeps losing the same fight over and over: every time he cracks a case, the credit slides over to Rinroku Kaisyou, the tech mogul who owns the media and most of the government. Shinjuurou gets the truth. Kaisyou gets the applause. Then there is Inga, the assistant. Sweet face, nasty streak. Sharp, arrogant, slippery, and capable of things that have no business existing in a detective office. Shinjuurou exposes a culprit, and Inga comes for what is left. Whatever that means. Nobody explains it, least of all Inga. So the two of them drift through the city, pulling apart crimes while Kaisyou's machines and money smooth everything back into place. Shinjuurou wants the facts. Inga wants something else, and the question of what exactly sits behind that pretty face is still wide open. What is the real reason the two of them are hunting the same truth?
