Haruka Ozawa's sophomore year is going about as badly as it can. A friend gets possessed. Another one turns up dead by their own hand, and Haruka starts wondering if she is next on whatever list this is. So she goes to the strangest guy on campus: Yakumo Saito, a sullen loner who keeps one eye hidden behind a contact lens. Underneath it, the left one burns red. He can see the dead. Worse, he can talk to them. He agrees to help her. Not because he is nice, but because he thinks ghosts are just feelings that got left behind, and if you find out what is holding them here, you can let them go. Simple, right? Except the dead do not always stay quiet, and there are people still breathing who would rather keep certain stories buried. Yakumo's cop contact keeps pulling bodies out of the ground. A journalist he knows has a fresh corpse in her closet. Haruka, meanwhile, cannot stop poking at things that were meant to stay buried. So a reluctant medium and a girl with a talent for trouble keep opening files nobody wanted reopened. How many of them are going to end up as the next case?
