When she was a kid, the youkai took Kotoko Iwanaga. They offered her a job: God of Wisdom, the one who settles fights between their world and ours. The pay was strange. Her right eye and her left leg, gone for good. She thought about it for a moment, then said yes. Six years on, she is a small girl with a cane and a fake eye, and every spirit with a problem knows her name. Then she walks into a hospital and meets Kurou Sakuragawa, a twenty two year old student fresh off a breakup. She likes him. She also notices there is something under that ordinary face, something that is not quite human. So she asks him to help her with the youkai. Two years later, an idol dies under a pile of falling steel beams, and the press moves on. Months after that, people start seeing a woman with no face walking around carrying one of those beams. Kotoko and Kurou take the case. It should be routine. It is not. This spirit is personal, and the truth behind it sits closer to the two of them than either wants to admit. Can Kotoko talk a ghost out of its grief, or is this the one problem her clever words cannot fix?
