Someone has been painting on the night sky. Thin lines, thousands of them, dragged across the stars like brushstrokes from a hand nobody can see. Four hundred years from now, the Trisolaran fleet gets here. That is the deadline hanging over every single person on Earth. Far away, a butterfly moves its wings, and Luo Ji's life quietly comes apart. A door swings open in front of him, and what waits on the other side is not a room but the center of the world: the Wallfacer Project, with him standing in the middle of it. He never asked for any of this. Across from them, inside a chamber the Sophon built, the Wallbreakers are already taking their seats one by one. Nobody knows how many there are or what they have been told to do. When the door opened and the project swallowed him whole, did Luo Ji have any idea what he was actually being asked to become?
