Kei Kusanagi is just a high school kid living with his aunt and uncle, and he has a habit of passing out at the worst possible moments. One night he spots something by the lake: a ship coming down, and a woman wrapped in light. Turns out she is not a dream and not a hallucination. She is Mizuho Kazami, an officer of the Galaxy Federation. And on Monday morning she walks into his classroom as the new teacher. Keeping that kind of secret is not easy, especially when the principal starts sniffing around their relationship. So the adults settle on a truly absurd fix: Kei and Mizuho get married. Now they share a roof, hide rings and paperwork from his friends, and dodge questions from an alien command that would love to know what their officer is doing on Earth. He is a teenager pretending to be single. She is an alien pretending to be ordinary. Neither is very good at it. Somewhere between the lies and the close calls, the two of them stop acting and start actually caring about each other. That is the part nobody planned for. How long can a marriage like this stay a secret before someone on either side finds out?
