Keiichi Morisato has never been lucky. Friends, grades, love, all of it tends to fall apart the moment he touches it, and starting university changed nothing. Then one ordinary weekday, buried under chores his absent seniors dumped on him, he picks up the phone to call one of them. A goddess answers instead. Belldandy steps out of his mirror, polite and glowing, and offers to grant a single wish. Any wish at all. So he jokes. Stay with me forever, he says. Big mistake. The wish sticks, and by morning Keiichi is homeless, thrown out of the all-male dorm for harboring a woman nobody can explain. A Buddhist temple takes them in, and now this nervous guy and this otherworldly girl share a roof, a bathroom schedule, and a growing pile of things neither knows how to say out loud. Belldandy cooks. Keiichi panics. The goddess hotline keeps ringing for other people, life keeps piling on, and somewhere between the awkward silences and the small kindnesses, something real starts to take shape. Can a guy who has never won anything actually deserve a goddess, and does she even want to go back?
