Kal-el Albus lost everything when the Wind Revolution tore his empire apart. Now he's on a floating island called Isla, training with the Aerial Division at Cadoques High, killing time with classmates who have no idea who he really is. Then he learns that Nina Viento, the girl whose name got a whole empire burned down, is on the same island. He signed up for this trip for one reason: revenge. But the sky has other plans. Friendships sneak up on him. So does something softer, something that makes no sense for a boy raised on hate. And just when Isla starts to feel like home, the air tribe attacks, and the carefree school days are over. Now the war nobody asked for is here, and Kal-el has to decide what he's actually fighting for. Will he hold on to the grudge that brought him here, or will the girl he came to destroy become the one person he can't lose?
