Kraft Lawrence hauls pelts from town to town, haggling for every coin. In Pasloe, the locals still tell stories about a wolf goddess who once promised their fields endless wheat. Nice tale. Nobody believes it anymore. Then Lawrence finds a naked girl with animal ears asleep in the back of his cart. She says she is Holo, the wolf from those old legends. She wants to go home, far to the north, and talks him into letting her tag along. Her payment? She will earn her keep, and she does. Sharp ears, sharper tongue, and centuries of watching people cheat each other make her a terrifying partner at the bargaining table. Every deal they chase drags them into some new mess, and their own trust gets tested right alongside their profits. Two travelers, one cart, a road that keeps offering chances and trouble in equal measure. Can a merchant and a forgotten goddess really make this arrangement work, or will the next contract be the one that breaks them apart?
