Yoshika Miyafuji signs up for the 501st Joint Fighter Wing, a unit built to shoot alien Neuroi out of the sky. Sounds like glory. Sounds like danger. Then the invasion alarms stay quiet, and the girls spend their days elbow deep in soapy water and peeling potatoes for dinner. The war can wait. Someone still has to sort the laundry. That is the joke, and it never really stops being the joke. A squadron of elite fighters with propellers on their legs argues over who burned the rice, races to claim the last clean towel, and treats a mountain of dirty socks like the real enemy. Yoshika wanted to fly. Instead she learns where the detergent is kept. But the quiet does not last forever, and these women were trained to fight something far worse than a clogged drain. When the Neuroi do come back, can a group this busy bickering over chores actually get off the ground in time?
