Two soldiers from opposite sides of the Pacific end up on the same Hawaiian beach. Ao Isami pilots for Japan's Ground Self-Defense Force. Lewis Smith flies for the US Marines. Their mechs, those humanoid armored rigs everyone calls TS, are supposed to be the sharpest weapons on Oahu. Then something nobody has ever seen before drops out of the sky and tears both units apart in minutes. Soldiers scatter into the jungle. Radios go dead. The chain of command falls apart. Isami and Smith cross paths in the middle of that mess. One Japanese, one American, no common orders, no backup, just two cockpits and a lot of burning metal around them. Their friends are out there somewhere, maybe alive, maybe not. Staying put means dying. Running means abandoning everyone. And the thing that wrecked them is still circling. So what do two rival pilots do when the only person watching their back is the guy they were trained to fight?
