A giant rock fell out of the sky years ago, and nobody knew what to make of it. Inside sat a capsule, maybe alien, and around that capsule the world built Project BB, an organization devoted to studying the thing. Down the road is International Academy. Eight boys go there, Manabu among them, and one day their teacher Hashiba dangles class credit in front of their faces. That is all it takes. Before anyone can ask questions, the eight are sealed inside the meteorite's empty chambers, told to picture a really cool giant robot and think hard. Sure. Why not. Then the sky rips open. A ship appears, and a 3-D alien who calls himself Wercury announces he has come for the Choshin meteorite. Hand it over, or fight. The boys are still processing this when the rock answers their thoughts and stands up as a massive robot. Great, except the Prokimasi are already attacking. Eight minds, one machine, and getting all of them to want the same thing at the same moment turns out to be almost impossible. The robot stumbles, swings late, takes hits it should not take. Hashiba names it Gakusaver, like that solves anything. Can eight kids who only showed up for a grade hold a fighting machine together long enough to keep the meteorite out of Wercury's hands?
