Hidomi keeps her headphones on from the moment she wakes up until she falls asleep. School, her mom's cafe, the same songs on repeat: that's the whole thing. She isn't waiting for anything anymore, and honestly, she stopped expecting surprises a while ago. Then a woman with a guitar runs her over in the street. That night a robot smashes into her bedroom, Ko from her class comes crashing in after it, and the two of them spend the next hour getting chased around town. The guitar woman shows up again and saves them. Small problem. There's a horn pushing out of Hidomi's forehead now. Also, an alien company called Medical Mechanica has picked her town as the latest front in its war with a rival outfit named Fraternity. Turns out the new teacher at school is named Haruko, and she seems to know a lot about whatever is buried inside Hidomi. Something that might save everyone, if anyone can drag it out of her. So why did Haruko come back? Where's the Rickenbacker she left behind years ago? And what happens when the horn gets bigger?
