The rent is months overdue and the office is a dump, but Jo still struts around calling himself the next Sherlock Holmes. Takeshi just tags along, playing the clueless assistant while Jo and the landlord's daughter Teru scream at each other about eviction. No clients ever show up. So the two of them spy on the police headquarters across the street, stealing case files through binoculars just to have something to do. Then a monster tears through the city and mild-mannered Takeshi slips on a polymer helmet. Red suit, superhuman strength, a hero called Polymer. Jo has no idea his goofy partner is the one saving him, and Teru has no idea either. The only one who knows is Daisaku, a lazy Saint Bernard who watches the whole mess and snarks about it in his head. Takeshi's father runs the International Police, by the way. Nobody in that office knows that part either. Criminal gangs, mutants, mad scientists: Jo and Polymer keep stumbling into all of it across Washinkyo. Jo takes the credit, Takeshi does the punching, and the dog keeps score. How long can a secret like that hold up when your best friend's whole career depends on not noticing?
