A cat once saved a mouse's life. That was his crime. Now Pero is on the run from the King of Cats, a tyrant with a temper like a lit fuse, and three gunmen who came back empty-handed and got an earful for it. The King wants Pero found, even if it takes the ends of the earth. So Pero does the sensible thing: he heads west, where nobody has heard of him. The gunmen catch up. He slips away, cool as ever, and boards a stagecoach to Go Go Town. On board: Annie, coming home from school back East, and Jimmy, a boy who moves like he is half asleep. Bandits stop the coach looking for the new sheriff. He is not there. They ride off. In town, Annie learns her father is dead. The Big Bad Boss killed him for poking around the fake money operation, and every sheriff who came before got the same treatment. Threats do not scare Annie. She stays, opens a restaurant in her father's old building, and Pero, Jimmy and a rescued mouse from the Indian tribe stand with her. Jimmy is the sheriff everyone has been waiting for. Together they go after the Boss and his secret printing press. But a man who murders lawmen for a living will not sit still while a cat, a girl and a sleepy-eyed boy pull his whole town apart. How far will he go to keep it?
