Pluto
A retired war hero robot is found murdered, and the only suspect who makes any sense is another machine. That should be impossible. Robots can't kill people, everyone knows that, and the one strange exception from eight years ago was written off and buried. Then Gesicht, a Europol detective who happens to be a robot himself, starts pulling at the case and finds the fingerprints of a killer nobody can name. The bodies stack up fast. Every victim turns out to be one of the seven deadliest war machines ever built, and two of them are already gone. Five left. Gesicht teams up with Atom, a boy-shaped android with more firepower than he looks, and together they race to find whoever is picking off the veterans one by one. The government knows more than it's saying. Somewhere in the files there's a name, Pluto, and people who mention it tend to disappear. What is Pluto, exactly? A machine, a ghost, or something the authorities built and then tried to forget?
