Sorawo Kamikoshi is just a regular university student until the day she stumbles through a portal and meets something in the Otherworld that nearly kills her. That thing she saw. That's when Toriko Nishina appears and pulls her out. Portals are everywhere, it turns out. A secret elevator, a shrine gate, a random door. Step through the wrong one and you're walking among the Kunekune and Hasshaku-sama, the creatures people whisper about in ghost stories that turn out to be true. Toriko has her own reason for going back. A friend named Satsuki vanished somewhere in there, and Toriko won't stop until she finds her. Sorawo could walk away and pretend none of it happened. She doesn't. The two start crossing over again and again, chasing rumors, poking at mysteries, trying to map a place that doesn't want to be mapped. Bad idea, probably. Something in the Otherworld starts changing their bodies, getting them ready for worse things ahead. They keep telling themselves it's for research, for money, for Satsuki. But what happens when the place you're hunting starts hunting you back?
