Two planets, once linked by something called the Dragon Pulse, now just bleed each other dry. Jeanne Kaguya d'Arc keeps seeing a star being born, and it shows her where the King of Salvation waits. So she runs, dragging Leonardo da Vinci across the void to the East Star. There she finds Nobunaga Oda, a feudal lord's son fresh off a humiliating defeat, who has promised his friends he'll take the whole world. She swears herself to his clan on the spot. Then King Arthur of the West Star sends Caesar and a fleet of combat machines to seize Nobunaga's planet and the Holy Grail. Problem is, Nobunaga fights like a madman, even naming his own suit after his nickname, The Fool. Hard to tell if he's a savior or a disaster. With Queen Himiko at his side, he has to hold his clan together through betrayals and losses. But can a man everyone calls a fool really be the one meant to save the world?
