He's back in America with a Hornets jersey on his back and a fastball that finally feels like his again. The World Cup lit something in Gorou Honda, and now the minor league grinder is one step from the mound he has chased since he was a kid, a major league debut waiting just past spring training. Then it all goes sideways. Not a blown shoulder, not a rival outplaying him. Something worse, something quieter that takes his reason to pitch apart from the inside, and he is left standing in the wreckage of a career he built piece by piece. The final season puts him somewhere no opponent can reach. In the pros there are no friends waiting to catch him, only guys who want his spot, and the real fight is with the voice in his own head telling him to walk away. Can a guy who has always answered with his arm learn to answer with something else?
