Gorou Honda is a little kid who eats, sleeps and breathes baseball, and the person he wants to be is his dad. Shigeharu pitches for the Marine Stars, and every time his son looks at him like he hung the moon, it pushes him to keep going, even with his wife gone and a spot on the second string that never turns into anything more. Then a bad elbow takes the mound away from him. Just like that, the man Gorou worships is sitting at home with nothing. A joke from an old friend pulls him back. Shigeharu picks up a bat instead of a ball, and Gorou, still small, starts clawing his own way through Little League. There is also Momoko, the kindergarten teacher his father finally noticed, and she quietly becomes part of the family's story of wins and losses. But what happens to a boy's dream when the person he built it around has to change everything?
