Win, and these kids get to call themselves the new national squad. Lose, and the project gets shut down for good. Yoichi Isagi is still in the mix, still figuring out what he's actually capable of, while the six best players in the pool have already been handed starting spots. The other twenty-nine have to fight for whatever scraps are left. Here's the catch: every candidate has to pick a partner from that top six and prove the pairing works. Sounds simple. It isn't. These are strikers, every last one of them, and strikers are selfish by nature. Getting them to link up means convincing guys who'd rather score alone that passing the ball isn't surrender. So how do you build a real team out of a bunch of egomaniacs who each want to be the one who finishes the play?
