Four years have passed since Gorou Honda last stood on a pitcher's mound, and when he walks back into Mifune East Junior High, his old friends stop dead in their tracks. Daishuke, Ryota, Kaoru. They grew up while he was away. The baseball team he finds is a mess, half empty, nobody believing in anything. So of course he picks up a ball. Then his arm starts talking back. The injury from his Hitaka Little days never really healed, and every throw reminds him of it. His friends have their own lives now, new rivals keep showing up, and the school team leans on him like he is the only thing holding it together. Somewhere down the road waits Kaido, the elite high school everyone talks about. Getting there means fixing what broke, on the field and off it. He is not sure he can do both. The game he loves keeps changing shape on him. The elbow aches. The team needs a leader he is not sure he is. So what happens when the one thing you have always been good at suddenly starts asking for a price?
