A construction worker named Kouichirou is finishing up on site. His wife Mari is flying home from a trip abroad. Downstairs, their son Gou is parked in front of a video game, and his sister Ayumu has just wrapped up track practice. A normal afternoon, nothing special about it. Then the ground opens up. A massive earthquake hits the whole Japanese archipelago at once, and entire cities are gone before anyone can process what happened. The Mutou family scatters, and the country they grew up in starts sliding into the sea. Now it is about staying alive, step by step, out of the city and away from the water. Ayumu and Gou hold on to each other and keep telling themselves things will get better, even while everything around them falls apart. People they love disappear, and that kind of loss does not come with instructions. How do you keep moving forward when the place you call home is disappearing beneath your feet?
