In Hong Kong three sisters run a tiny detective agency, and every case has something to do with books. Anita, Maggie and Michelle can bend paper into weapons, shields, whatever the moment calls for. Then a Japanese novelist named Nenene walks in: writer's block, a friend who vanished without a trace, and terrorists who show up at her book signing with guns. The sisters pull her out of it, and just like that they are her bodyguards in Japan. Here is the strange part. Maggie and Michelle are thrilled, since they are huge fans of her novels. Anita hates books and always has, even though paper obeys her like a trained dog. So the three of them settle into guarding a woman who barely leaves her desk, all while a shadowy outfit called Dokusensha keeps handing them old books to chase down. Piece by piece it comes together: Nenene, the missing friend Yomiko, and those books are one and the same story. What looked like a simple bodyguard gig turns into the biggest case the sisters have ever touched. The question is whether they are ready to put their lives on the line for a stack of paper.
