Fate/Zero
Seven mages get one shot at a miracle. The Holy Grail will grant any wish, and it has already chewed through three wars without ever handing anyone a victory. The Einzbern family knows this. They have been losing for generations, and this time they refuse to leave it to chance, so they drag in Kiritsugu Emiya, a man everyone calls the Magus Killer, and seal the deal by marrying him to their daughter Irisviel. Not exactly a love story, but nobody here is playing nice. Here is the part that keeps you up at night: the man who hates killing the most is the one doing all of it. Kiritsugu once wanted to be a hero who saves everybody. Then he figured out that saving one person always costs you another, so he picked a side and became something worse than any mercenary. Now he summons Saber, a knight with a code of honor, and the two of them can barely stand each other. Across the city of Fuyuki, six other pairs sharpen their knives. But the one who worries him most is Kirei Kotomine, a priest with nothing inside him, who watches Kiritsugu the way a starving man watches a meal. What does a hollow man find when he finally meets someone he wants to understand?
