Fafner: Heaven and Earth

Fafner: Heaven and Earth

Two years have passed since the last big fight with the Festum. On Tatsumiya Island, people are slowly slipping back into ordinary routines, mending roofs, tending fields, pretending the sky is just sky. Kazuki isn't. Half his body doesn't work the way it used to, and his eyes are almost gone. He sits with the promise Soushi left him: I'll come back, and everything will be the way it was. Some nights he still believes it. Most nights he doesn't. Then a submarine drifts into the bay, unmanned, no flag, no signal. Inside is a boy. Misao Kurusu says Soushi sent him. He also says other things, and none of them add up, starting with the question of what exactly he is. The Human Army and the Festum go back to killing each other almost immediately, and the pilots get thrown into a fight bigger than any of the ones that already cost them so much. This time two species are standing on the same ledge. Kazuki has one working hand, barely any sight, and a promise he can't verify. So who is Misao really working for, and what happens if Soushi never meant to come back at all?
