A fifteen year old girl signs her name in the adventurer's guild ledger and gets a shiny porcelain tag for it. First day on the job. Her party is just as green as she is, and the job looks like easy money: clear some goblins out of a cave, find the missing village women. Everyone knows goblins are the weakest monsters around, the training dummy every rookie cuts their teeth on. Then the cave goes dark and the ambush hits. The group comes apart in minutes, and the priestess is left alone with what is coming for her. That is when the armored swordsman walks in and finishes the whole nest without breaking a sweat. A silver rank, and he only takes goblin contracts. She follows him back to town and joins him, and along the way they pick up an elf archer, a dwarf shaman and a lizardman. He does not care about glory or bigger bounties, just the next nest, and the next one after that. So what happened to a man like that, to make him spend his whole life on the one monster nobody else bothers to fear?
