A trainee angel gets sent to Hell with one job: kill the Overlord. Flonne blows it in about five minutes. She stumbles onto a coffin instead and wakes Laharl, the demon heir to the throne, after a two year nap he did not ask to end. He is not happy about it. Then things get worse. The Netherworld is falling apart, demons are rebelling, and Laharl has to drag himself off his butt to fix it. Along for the ride: Etna, his vassal, who is loyal in the way a cat is loyal to a can opener. Plus her personal army of souls stuffed into penguin suits. And they explode. A lot. So now a demon lord, a ditzy angel and a backstabbing vassal are stomping across Hell, crushing anyone who stands in their way. Or, if someone asks nicely, letting them tag along. Laharl keeps insisting he is a demon lord, all sharp edges, no kindness, no mercy, no heart. Two years asleep and he still has not learned to lie to himself. How long before that act falls apart?
