Shugo and his twin sister Rena luck out in a promo event and win two limited avatars: Kite and Black Rose, the legendary heroes everyone in The World recognizes on sight. So the pair of total newbies log in, poke around, pick up quests, and soon have a crew of friends tagging along. Ouka, Mirelle, Hotaru, Sanjuro. Normal MMO stuff. Fun, even. Then players start dropping. Not logging off, not rage quitting. Monsters nobody has seen before kill a character, and somewhere in the real world the person behind the screen falls into a coma. That is when the game stops being a game. Shugo and Rena are the only ones who can dig into what is happening, except nobody can explain why the monsters keep coming after them specifically, or what the people running The World are hiding. Two kids, one very dangerous server. What happens when the avatars you won in a contest turn out to be the reason everything is chasing you?
