Legend of Exorcism

Kong Hongjun spent his whole life on Mount Taiheng, raised by immortals, far from ordinary people and their problems. Then he comes down to Chang'an with three jobs: find who killed his father, wipe out the Black Jiao and its yao clans hiding in the city, and hand the Heart Lamp to a Chen descendant. Simple enough. On his very first night in town, the lamp ends up inside the body of Li Jinglong, a military general. Not a box. Not a hiding place. Him. Then comes the invitation to the Court of Exorcism, and Hongjun walks in to find Li Jinglong as his captain, a disgraced former general with a grudge. Their squad is a mess: another yao, a noble from some far-off land, and a scholar scared of his own shadow. Together they hunt the yao slipping through Chang'an's streets. There is just one problem. Hongjun is half yao himself, and Li Jinglong cannot stand yao. So he smiles, takes orders, fights beside the man, and says nothing. All while trying to pull the Heart Lamp back out of him. How long can you keep a secret from the person you sleep, eat and bleed next to?
