Staz runs the Eastern district of the demon world, and everyone there is terrified of him. Bloodthirsty monster, they whisper. Merciless. Meanwhile the guy is holed up in his room with stacks of anime and manga, blowing off his own territory so he can obsess over Japanese culture. His underlings handle the actual ruling. Then a real Japanese schoolgirl stumbles through a portal into his city. Fuyumi. Staz is thrilled, and before he can even figure out what he feels for her, some monster crashes in and kills her. Just like that. She comes back as a ghost, following him around and begging to be brought back to life. Now Staz has to deliver on a promise he made in the heat of the moment, and the only way to resurrect Fuyumi is to find magic that can raise the dead. A spatial magician named Bell and a half-werewolf called Wolf join the search. But can a vampire who has never once bitten a human really drag a dead girl back into the land of the living?
